It is now displayed on a board in our kitchen, where we can see it often, and enjoy the memory. There was absolutely no pressure to having it put inside a locket, etc., but we wanted a keepsake, so my husband and I combined our $16 and $11 worth of gold, and had it made into a magnet. (Every single person that worked at this site was so friendly! We felt very welcomed).Īfter collecting our gold, we went inside to have it weighed. Everyone was guided to a water table where we were given a full-sized pan with which to pan (I have seen pictures of friends with much smaller pans - the size of their hands!) and a film canister, in which to place our gold.Īs we panned, there were plenty of employees there to help. When we arrived, each of us was given a poke (bag filled with pay dirt) to use. Just before we arrived at the dredge/shops, he gave us a very thorough demonstration of how to pan for gold. He was extremely well spoken and knowledgeable.Īfter we got on the train, we loved how, when the train would stop, he would get off and walk to points of interest, explaining what they were, and their importance. As we did, a longtime employee welcomed everyone, and gave us some very interesting information. Upon arrival, we enjoyed taking pictures of the Alaskan pipeline. It was not only educational, but so much fun! Our Royal Caribbean Land Tour brought us here.
